Water care

 Hook

I was so happy to see Sarah from Water Care.

Paragraph 1

Sarah told us about toilets in the olden days. People did not have toilets, they had bedpans in which you could pee and poo in. She told us about how the Water treatment plant kills the germs. She told us about in the olden days the pee and poo was put in a horse cart. Then they put the pee and poo in the rivers.

Paragraph 2

Then we went outside. Sarah told us to make mountains and volcanoes using these white rocks. She put us in three groups. In each group there were about 8 to 9 students. Sharon, Agnes and myself were left over so Sarah and Miss Paton put us in each group. We put a transparent sheet over the top of the rocks. After that we had to guess the number of rivers that would be formed. My group guessed 3 to 4 and then we poured some water on the transparent sheet so my group's rivers formed 4 to 5 rivers.

Paragraph 3

Then we went into room 1 then Sarah told us that Cooking oil should never be poured down the sink. If you have cooking oil in your frying pan, then, you need to wipe off the oil with a tissue paper, throw the tissue paper in the dustbin and then wash your pan. When Sarah was telling us this, she put cooking oil in some water and then she mixed it up. Oil solidifies and blocks the drains. Sarah showed us two pipes; one was filled with cotton buds, tissue paper and kitchen paper towels and the other pipe was very nice and clean. She said each one of us should play our part and keep the pipes clean.

Then she put red paint in water and she told us not to put paint down the storm water drain because the fish cannot see if there is paint in the water.

Conclusion:

I was so happy to learn about how to care for water and how to save the environment.
